The House passed a 1.5 billion measure to aid older Americans over three years. It creates a National Information and Resource Center for the Aging and allocates 35 million for multipurpose senior centers plus 225 million for housing, transport, employment and preretirement training. Welfare records burned in Lorain County relief purge

Lorain County Welfare Department ordered by the county engineer to burn outdated welfare files. About 3,187 general relief families and 1,350 Aid to Dependent Children cases plus records dating to the 1590s were destroyed after state archiv es approval. Prinz said the action proves families moved off welfare and personal data was eliminated.
