Ford struggles to replace rusting police car frames
Lorain and Elyria police fleets face hundreds of rusting frames from 1995 to 1997 models. Ford says scarce replacement frames delay repairs and a final plan is not yet decided. Officials note limited new car purchases and ongoing negotiations, with some cars already out of service.

Agency to provide records to The Chronicle Telegram
Lorain County Community Action Agency agreed in a consent order signed by Judge Thomas W. Janas to make public records available to The Chronicle Telegram by July 22 or when ready for inspection. The agency will comply with Chronicle record requests for the next two years and argued records were not subject to public records law.

Man pleads guilty to lesser drug charge in Elyria
Willard man Teddy Sloan, 42, pleaded guilty to two counts of abusing harmful intoxicants after being indicted on two counts of deception to obtain dangerous drugs. He faces sentencing later by Common Pleas Judge Edward M. Zaleski. In a related case, Dr Rogelio A. Banaga, 57, acknowledged eight to ten Sloan patients with OxyContin, with 30 to 40 percent of prescribed patients reportedly addicted, and faces 44 criminal charges. A Lorain woman, Michelle Lacey, 28, was indicted on grand theft for allegedly stealing 11,536 from a Marathon Gas Station between September 21 and 24.
