Official 1953 Ohio Highway Map Supports Elyria Turnpike Fight

Elyria officials hope the new Official 1953 Ohio Highway Map signals the Turnpike route should skirt the city. The dotted line on the map near Elyria suggests a north-of-city path, though the Turnpike Commission maintains the route through the city unless forced to change. The map, issued by the State Department of Highways, commemorates Ohio’s Sesquicentennial with Rufus Putnam’s 1804 map on the back, while the 1953 edition markets as the most complete motoring aid yet.
