GSA chief overlooked loans in finance report
Washington (UPI) The head of the General Services Administration says he inadvertently omitted a $425,000 federal loan in his finances before Senate confirmation. Gerald Carmen said he based answers on ethics forms filed earlier, missing SBA loans to his Manchester New Hampshire business. The disclosure form for Senate confirmation requires all direct and indirect loans. Carmen called it an oversight and expressed regret.

Mel Fisher told a House hearing he opposes federal ownership of shipwrecks and salvage profits. He described a 1622 hurricane sinking a treasure ship off Florida and warned the Treasure Act would put about 50,000 wrecks under U S control, with states possibly sharing loot.
