Lorain Man Slain In Tavern Shooting

A 43 year old Lorain man, Ralph P. Wimberly of 903 E 36th St, was shot three times at El Rancho Grande tavern 29th Street and Vine Avenue. He died en route to St Joseph Hospital. The motive is unknown and a Lorain man is sought as suspect. Wimberly worked at Wakefield Lighting ITT Vermilion and leaves a wife Pennie and two children. The Carter Funeral Home handles arrangements.

Inmate Riot at Maryland House of Corrections

Three inmates were wounded and a guard held hostage during an angry disturbance at Maryland House of Corrections in Jessup. Flames and a bonfire appeared in the central open area as about 60 inmates tried to break out. state police and National Guard were alerted.
