Hollywood love interest drives box office, says Fidler
Hollywood producer emphasis on romance contrasts with the era’s top grossing films. Jimmie Fidler notes established hits like Birth of a Nation and All Quiet on the Western Front succeeded without love plots, while Westerns consistently earn higher profits than romance. He cites Robin Hood as a current counterpoint and praises adventure over kiss scenes.
