Milwaukee Circus Parade Revives Great Show Tradition

The Milwaukee parade revived a 19th century spectacle with 75 ornate circus wagons drawn by horses, drawing an estimated crowd of 750,000 to 775,000 along a 43 block route. Museum wagons aged from the Circus World Museum carried elephants leopards and a hippo with Carson and Barnes Circus performers adding to the procession.

Sister and Miss Lexie suffocates on stage at Second Stage

The patchwork Welty homage "Sister and Miss Lexie" at New York off Broadway’s Second Stage collapses into a tedious 80 minute evening. Brenda Currin robs the piece of drama by reciting Welty character lists with limited star presence. Two pianists provide background but do not lift the production's faulty structure. The set by Susan Hilferty is busy yet distracting while Currin portrays all roles with uneven vocal power.
