Monuments of community apathy: Northwestern Ohio jails study
A Toledo Diocesan survey of 18 northwestern Ohio jails calls most facilities monuments of apathy and neglect. Lucas County's new $12 million jail tops the list with Allen County Lima's 80 year jail, both under federal orders to improve. Findings show two thirds over 75 years old, half with no fire exit plan, limited visitation, and few work release programs.

Amherst Court Cuts Summer Pay To Three Dollars An Hour
A Lorain County Common Pleas Court temporary restraining order caps summer wages at 3.00 per hour until further notice. Judge Floyd D. Warris issued the ruling after a Friday hearing, backing city solicitor Alan W. Anderson in the dispute with city Auditor Ralph Zilch over alleged misallocation of funds. The case centers on an April 1977 city ordinance limiting summer worker pay, and whether it supersedes a union agreement that had raised rates to 4.27 an hour for 20 or more hours weekly.

Colllingswood based Robert Barry, head of the 20th Century UFO Bureau, argues that UFOs are real but not alien. He notes declassified NASA and Air Force materials, cites three sources with 18 recovered bodies, and predicts government advisories and TV or film releases will reveal the truth. He downplays sightings as humanlike, not little green men.
