Barnes sentenced to life in prison for murder

Fred C Meyers known as Cap Meyers died at his home 422 Lake Avenue shortly after noon Sunday after a lingering illness. He served 34 years on the police department including 24 years as captain, the longest tenure in the department. Born December 20 1870 at Amherst he lived in Elyria 43 years. He was pensioned last October. He is survived by wife two sisters and two brothers. Services will be at First Methodist Church with Masonic rites and burial at Ridgehill Memorial Cemetery.
