Readers call for tougher gun laws in Chronicle Telegram poll

The Chronicle Telegram polled 744 readers on six firearm issues. A strong majority oppose registering firearms and handgun licenses, favor severe penalties for crimes with guns, and enforce existing laws. Only mail order sales bans drew a near split vote 361 to 34.
