Fatal Accidents Reported In Elyria and Lorain County
Three automobile crashes over the weekend in Elyria and Lorain County left one man dead, another injured, and a teenager slightly hurt. In Avon Lake a Cleveland man, Alfred E. Straub, 33, died after his car struck a tree on Lake Road near Avon Belden Road. companion Fred J. Hawver, 29, was seriously but not fatally injured. Deputies say driver failed to see a curve. both men were linotype operators for the Cleveland Plain Dealer. A second collision on Durkee Road and Route 82 involved Miss Maude Parmelee, 946 Middle Avenue, and Harold Lewallen, Olmsted Falls, with five occupants escaping serious injury. Parmelee struck Lewallen’s car as she traveled Route 82. Lewallen reported he could not stop at the intersection.
