Lightning strike narrowly injures two boys in stormy rush hour
Two 12 and 13 year old boys survived a near lightning strike while taking shelter under a tree on Stanford Avenue during a Tuesday thunderstorm. Elyria fire Lt. Bill Gall said the older boy was knocked to the ground by a lightning bolt hitting the tree as winds reached 70 mph. A homeowner and neighbor described a loud bang and panic as bystanders tended them.
