Lorain police and postal investigators probe a mailed bomb that killed Daniel J. Ronec, a 23 year old Cleveland teacher, with officials unsure who the intended recipient was. Postman Herbert Harding Jr. delivered the package addressed to Tom Hronec in Columbus before it was redirected to Lorain.
London Correctional Institution in London Ohio was ringed by about 250 Ohio National Guard troops after fires and violence. Guards moved through dormitories forcing inmates to face walls as 30 disturbance instigators were moved to holding areas. Officials cited low wages and parole board problems as motives while 20 prisoners were placed in isolation for questioning.
Mrs John Murry 21 and Sandra Dee Murry 7 pounds 13 ounces were born in an Ohio Turnpike maintenance garage near Fremont. Patrolman T A Bates assisted until a hospital doctor arrived. It may be the first baby born on the turnpike and the first for the couple.

Danny Ronec, 23, a Cleveland school teacher and Lorain Works summer worker, was killed when a cylindrical package exploded after he opened it on his front porch. A trusted, friendly man with plans to wed in August, he left Admiral King High as class president and was described as upward bound by neighbors.
Trustee Maurice M. Wellman filed in U S District Court Cleveland to treat Herb Meister Inc as an instrumentality of Herbert H. Meister. Hearing set for July 17 before Paul J. Goan. Meister, Elyria real estate broker, filed May 7 with $713 debt and $85 650 assets. H & J Development owed Herb Meister Inc about $75 000.
South Vietnam urged direct Saigon Hanoi negotiations as the Paris talks on Vietnam continued. Diem, South Vietnamese ambassador to the United States, urged the step while noting skepticism about current talks and accusing Hanoi of bad faith.
Postman Herbert Harding Jr. recalls delivering a dark tan cylindrical package to 224 West 32nd Street that exploded hours later in the home of Daniel J. Ronec killing him. The package, later traced to Columbus, was addressed to Tom Hronec. The blast shattered windows and shocked the neighborhood as authorities investigate why the box, weighing about a pound, was sent to Lorain.
