Car dealers report strong demand but tight stock in 1976 models
Area dealers say full size and larger models remain scarce as 1976 production winds down, with Buckeye Ford in Lorain paying up to 300 over wholesale for Ford Elites, LTDs and Thunderbirds. Mullinax Ford reports brisk sales and expects shortages of large cars in 6 weeks, while Camaros Monte Carlos and Malibus sell fast at Prout Chevrolet in Elyria. Small cars stay plentiful and popular with graduates, as dealers push rebates and trade deals to clear stocks before 1977 models arrive.
