Short Cuts For Cleaning Ivory Or Bone Handles

A methods guide advises making a lemon juice and whiting paste to clean and polish ivory or bone knife handles. For very soiled pieces, leave the paste on a few hours before rinsing and drying with a soft cloth. It also notes hanging cups to reduce breakage and placing a folded Turkish towel in a dishpan to cushion delicate china or glassware during washing.
