The Ohio Supreme Court upheld the state relief commission policy of withholding portions of county relief allocations. Clermont County sought full maximum payments for January through May and the court sustained to pay less, setting a precedent for other counties. Denounces Fair Trade Act of Ohio in Commerce Denouncement
Alfred A. Benesch, Ohio state director of commerce, denounces the fair trade practice act set to take effect Thursday. He says the law, labeled special interest, would violate free contract and raise consumer prices, especially for pharmaceuticals and toilet items. Proponents argue it protects the public from inferior stock and prevents predatory price cutting, noting the contract binds all retailers to producer terms.
