Native American tribe boosts military enlistment amid pride and poverty
In Menominee County Wisconsin two dozen veterans attend a Gathering of Warriors with family and tribal leaders watching as youngsters consider enlisting. The county ranks high in Army per capita recruiting, driven by pride in heritage and the appeal of military service as a path out of poverty. Geary County Kansas also shows strong recruitment near Fort Riley, with many locals already familiar with military life and opportunities.
