Pacifiers for Babies Stop Thumb Sucking
Dr Glen BR Shepherd reports a UT study of 364 children showing pacifiers greatly reduce thumb-sucking. Among 315 nonpacifier users, 84 became thumb-suckers, while only 3 to 6 percent of pacifier users did. All but one who used pacifiers stopped by age two, many by age five, arguing pacifiers prevent thumb-sucking and ease breakage.
