Fireworks and boating mishaps mar holiday in Ohio
July 4 festivities in Elyria Lorain and Vermilion saw several fireworks injuries and a boating crash. Two Elyria victims, a 15 year old girl and a 19 year old man, were treated after firecrackers struck them. In Lorain a 36 year old man, a 13 year old boy and a 3 year old child suffered firework related injuries. A 27 year old Dayton man was hurt on Lake Erie near Vermilion and a second boat operator faced charges for operating under the influence. No serious injuries reported on area roadways. Coast Guard said four people escaped uninjured after a boat hit a breakwall at West Harbor Catabanba Island.
