Temporary injunction granted in Anglo IranianOil dispute

The Hague based International Court of Justice ordered Iran to allow continued British operation of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company until a final ruling. It urged naming a five member supervisory board for future management with two Iranians, two Britons and a neutral fifth. Two judges dissented on jurisdiction issues. Iran’s nationalization law took effect May 2.

Truck And Three Autos In Crash Fast Of Elyria

A wreck on Route 20 east of Elyria involved a truck driven by W J Wruck Buffalo and four cars including Kathleen Swinehert John Lantsberry Mable Dyke Earl Jackson Clarence Schroeder Keith Kochis Ray Thompson Mrs Billy Rievert and Alice Calvert. Jackson faces reckless driving arraignment July 7.

Cleveland Man Drowns Near Beaver Park

Leonard Vincent Bugala, 35, of 2594 West Tenth Street Cleveland, drowned in Lake Erie near Beaver Park when his collapsible canoe capsized around 6 p.m. A companion, Eugene Morehart, 34, from Lorain, swam to shore and aided in the search as others joined in with local craft and Lorain Coast Guardsmen. The body had not been recovered last night amid darkness and rough seas. Bugala survived by his mother Anna and six siblings. The boat was owned by Bugala and cousin Louis Polenka, who was at a nearby picnic.

Contract Awarded For City Hall Remodeling

The city awarded the remodeling of the police locker room jail and water office in city hall and decorating the council chamber to Scott and Bishop contractors on a bid of $4,607. Service Director D W Kothe said only one bid was received and the council had set a $5,000 limit.

Elyria Schools Sell 1.7 Million Bonds To Toledo Firm

The Elyria School Board sold 1.7 million dollars in bonds to Braun Bosworth and Co of Toledo at 2.75 percent with a 31,877 premium, netting a 2.55 percent rate. Five bids were received and the sale completes the second issue of 3.7 million dollars authorized in 1949 for Allen Jefferson and Edison additions.

The United States seeks Oatis release after a Czech court sentenced AP correspondent William N. Oatis, 37, from Marion Indiana, to 10 years for espionage. Real Estate Tax Bills Reach 35000 Taxpayers Countywide

County Treasurer Walter J. Wright announced the mid year real estate tax mailing of about 35 000 bills to taxpayers. With roughly 100 000 parcels in the county, Wright expects about 700 000 in total collections and notes no penalty will be charged through July 31. Books close at month end. He reported 275 890 already collected for this period.

U. S. Battle Casualties Rise 4 361 in Korea Week

The Defense Department reports 78 110 American battle casualties in Korea up 4 361 for the week. The weekly rise falls short of the prior five weeks' pace, which exceeded 3 000 casualties each week. A separate item notes 16 year old Carlos John Ruhl of Powell Delaware Ohio killed when his tractor overturned after striking a tree.

Elyria Fire Loss Tops Fifty Thousand in First Half

Elyria's fire losses for the first half of 1951 reached $50,384.18, nearly four times the amount of the same period in 1950. The Clayton apartment fire in February drove the rise, with total alarms increasing from 98 to 108 year to year. The department logged twelve township alarms with $6,790.56 in losses, and three of four first aid calls were resolved.

East German Steamer Explodes Killing Dozens of Orphans

An East German excursion steamer carrying about 150 orphans exploded on the Spree river near Treptow in Berlin killing an estimated 50 or more. The blast tossed children into the water as flames rose eighty feet high and many victims drowned or burned.

Elyrians Injured In Fatal Nebraska Crash

Mr and Mrs Howard Behnke of Elyria are hospitalized in Lincoln Nebraska after a collision on a Lincoln road trip. Nelson A Betterly of Indianapolis was killed and Mrs Behnke and Mrs Betterley were seriously injured. Behnke suffered a broken leg.

No Fireworks Accidents Debated in Cleveland

Police and hospital officials debated whether Cleveland had its first Fourth of July without fireworks accidents. The lone casualty was a housewife who fell through a storm window while her dog fled exploding firecrackers. She received forty stitches for an injured hand.

Detroit Man Killed In Avon Lake Crash

Leonard Livingston age 24 of Detroit was killed at 5 30 am when his car crashed into a tree on Lake Road Avon Lake. His wife Mrs Livingston was injured and taken to St Josephs Hospital Lorain but her condition was listed as unconscious with injuries undetermined. Police say the driver may have fallen asleep.

Elyria Fireman Recovering From Injuries

Elyria firefighter Otto Stegman aged 73 is recovering at home after a fall from a rear step on a fire engine during an alarm response. He sustained cuts and brush burns to his left leg shoulder and elbow but escaped serious head injury thanks to his helmet.

Hungary Expels Two U S Diplomats Over Archfiend Groesz Case
