Bushmeat trade threatens Pygmies way of life in Congo
In Ituri Forest Congo a Mbuti Pygmy band faces a growing influx of Bantu traders buying bushmeat for regional markets. The Okapi Reserve tone, once protection, is breached as 15 antelope fall daily and wildlife declines push families toward day labor and schools outside the forest. Traders bring cash, tools, and cultural change as hunters increasingly sell nearly all meat.
