In Beirut radical Islamic Jihad threatened seven Americans seized since March 1984 as U S plans to close Beirut airport in response to the TWA 847 hijacking faces potential retaliation. The group warned America and its allies of a black fate if attacks occur.
Israeli forces evacuated 300 Lebanese detainees from Atlit to the Lebanon border after Shiite hijackers demanded the release of all 735 prisoners. The militiamen of Amal and other groups led the release, while Israeli and U.S. officials denied a swap deal.
The W G Nord Community Mental Health Center will abolish or leave unfilled eleven positions as part of a 1985 86 budget of 2 424517 a 17 percent services cut. Counseling will lose four jobs with 2 000 locals served last year and 1 700 expected next year, a drop to 50 new severe cases.
