Partly cloudy tonight with a low in the low 30s. Friday brings more clouds and a 28 to 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. In the five state area, heat and exposure deaths reach 119 with Texas largest at 75, Oklahoma 21, Arkansas 17, Kansas five, Missouri one. Fire destroys Olmsted Falls doctor's home in large blaze

A $100,000 fire heavily damaged the home of Dr. Walter R. Funk in Olmsted Falls as firefighters from Olmsted Falls and Columbia Township battled the blaze from about 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Debris injured firefighter Timothy Potts but he recovered. The house, one of the oldest in the city, valued at $170,000 with $50,000 contents, is deemed rebuildable. Dr Funk plans to rebuild with help from his son, a Virginia contractor.
