Grand Central Entrance Named for Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis
The Park Avenue and East 42nd Street entrance to Grand Central Terminal was dedicated as the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Foyer. A bronze relief plaque honors her role in saving the Beaux-Arts terminal, whose landmark status helped blocked a proposed 53 story tower in 1978. Grand Central opened in 1913.
