Elyria Memorial Hospital uses a tissue committee to review cases where preoperative diagnosis and pathology disagree or where tissue is removed or not removed. Eight doctors from multiple departments evaluate about 800 cases monthly, aiming to reduce unnecessary operations and protect patients.
Former Attorney General John N. Mitchell quits as campaign director after Martha Mitchell’s public ultimatum to leave politics. Nixon accepts the resignation and reflects on the strain of politics on marriages. Mitchell plans to return to private law on Wall Street, with Clark MacGregor slated to replace him.
Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley and 58 fellow would be delegates won a Supreme Court ruling affecting seating in Miami Beach. Rehnquist denied a bid to throw out a Chicago court action that blocked challengers from being seated, sending the matter back to state court for review.
