Low Prices Fail to Curtail Dairy Production
Columbus Ohio July 2 1931 dairy economist G W Miller of Ohio State University reports that despite low butter and milk prices US creamery butter production has run 5 to 8 percent higher than 1930 in January through April. Milk output also exceeds last year as shippers to major markets rise. overall dairy supplies meet normal demand though urban business slump reduces consumption. Per capita butter use fell about 2 percent and milk use about 25 percent during the 1930 31 low period. recent pasture and grain cuts may slow the rise in milk production.
