Father battles transfer rule over son Nicki Nicki Gilbert faces transfer athletic rules in Elyria schools
A father's bid to let 16 year old Nicki Gilbert play basketball after transferring from Elyria Catholic to Elyria West has tangled city and Catholic boards. The new policy requires consent from both principals and the OHSAA, with limited exceptions. The Elyria City Schools may allow transfer athletes in most sports but not for the sport they played at their old school, unless a board hearing grants special relief.
