Harold E McVeigh longtime superintendent of the street department will step down this Friday after 28 years. After the Blizzard of 78, North Ridgeville residents mobilized to shelter neighbors without power. Mayor Richard Carte and Safety Service Director John DeCorte coordinated emergency housing at Middle School, with help from Jaycees, St. Peter's Church and local businesses. By Friday, the shelter served additional families while crews cleared 15 foot drifts and restored routes for safety services.
A Ridgeville school menu lists hot chicken sandwich on Monday, pork choppette on Tuesday, toasted cheese on Ash Wednesday, meat loaf on Thursday, and sea dog sandwich on Friday with sides and milk each day.
