Elyria school board approved retroactive pay raises for Supt Calvin Leader and Clerk Treasurer Edwin Haywood. A 29 year old Sheffield Township man Larry Simms facing aggravated murder charges for the November 27 shooting death of his wife Janice Simms. The pre trial hearing was scheduled for Monday by Lorain County Common Pleas Court Judge Adrian Bedeski. Simms pleaded innocent to the killing at their home and remains jailed on a $100000 cash bond.

Elyrian man gets year jail term in fatal crash
Elyria resident Daniel A Gardiner, 28, was sentenced to consecutive 18 month terms in Lorain County jail after pleading guilty to two counts of vehicular homicide in a March crash at Route 113 and Elyria Milan Road.
