Tom W. Wilkens 87 of Elyria died January 27 2010 at EMH Regional Medical Center. A WWII veteran and Bendix Westinghouse retiree, he lived in Elyria 22 years after Westlake. He is survived by wife Mary, son Tom, daughter Becky, two stepdaughters and numerous grandchildren. Services held January 30 at Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home with full military honors at Lakewood Park Cemetery. Memorials to American Kidney Association.

Betty Virginia Furcron of Wellington died January 27 2010 after a long illness. She lived in Elyria before moving to Wellington in 1962 and was a homemaker who worked at EMH for 15 years. Officials propose a 255 mile passenger line from Cleveland to Cincinnati with stops in Columbus Dayton Sharonville and Cincinnati serving about 6 million residents and ending 40 years after its last service. cost estimates place Cleveland to Columbus at 18 dollars per trip while funding would come from a mix of sources aided by federal grants and signage fees.
