Microsoft lawsuit hits four Cleveland area retailers
Erie Shores Computer Inc operating in Eastlake Mayfield Heights and Elyria is named among seven companies nationwide sued by Microsoft for distributing counterfeit Office Pro 2000 software and unlicensed operating systems. Microsoft attorney Mary Jo Schrade said an investigator bought counterfeit Office Pro from Erie Shores in 2002 and a later purchase prompted a cease and desist letter. Erie Shores head Larry Jones said a supplier certified by a Pittsburgh firm was involved and that they halted all noncertified software purchases. Microsoft notes nine authorized wholesalers exist and the seller in Erie Shores case was not one.
