Martha Swope the dancer’s photographer on Broadway
Martha Swope began with a Brownie and today her credit line on a photo is valued like silver. She shoots about 70 percent of Broadway productions, captured Mikhail Baryshnikov in mid air, and shot the John Travolta poster for Saturday Night Fever. A Waco native, she describes her work as work not glamour, often working 20 hour days with tight budgets. She views the art as photographing motion and preserving a split second of today for future history.
