Radio tests mark experimental stage in world broadcasting
In London on January 24, the Hoover household and other enthusiasts followed the international radio tests. Radio tests were better last night in New York
The radio week committee announced that Europe’s final attempt to girdle the world with a radio program last night showed the greatest success since Sunday but still lagged behind last year. Despite gale winds along the eastern seaboard, listeners reported stations in Berlin Madrid Edinburgh and Wamburz. Complaints came of spark-interruptions on ships and at commercial stations and California stations were criticized for failing to air during Europe’s hour last Sunday. From Russia, telegrams noted that Wednesday night’s atmospheric handicap did not prevent reception of WOR Newark WJY WIZ and WEAF of New York. Thamburg Germany appeared to dominate reception in this country.

Fragmented scribbles hint at theatre tale and its twists
A garbled passage hints at a theatre plot with a suitor, a daughter, and an officer. It mentions Edith Roberts and a deserting fan, with references to a character named Karaye and a looming reveal about a fire scene and wardrobe. The piece reads like a journalistic note on a film or play.
