Border missionaries attacked near Reynosa in violent Mexican corridor

An American missionary couple, Sam and Nancy Davis, were ambushed at an illegal roadblock south of Reynosa in Tamaulipas. Nancy Davis died from a head wound after their 2008 pickup was fired upon as they crossed toward the border. Authorities note the area’s high crime and vehicle thefts linked to cartels. The husband drove to the Pharr border crossing with his wife wounded. Nancy Davis was pronounced dead in a McAllen hospital. The attack prompts calls for greater Mexican authorities’ action and echoes prior border violence.
