Wounded veterans from all wars are invited to join the Lorain County Chapter of the Loyal Order of the Purple Heart. An organizational meeting is set for Feb 2 at 8 p.m. in the American Legion Hall on Ohio Street. Dues are $10 and discharge papers are required to qualify. Charles Pritt, director of Lorain County Veterans Service, says the Cleveland chapter has over 100 members and Lorain County can support its own unit. Members can use the Cleveland chapter service officer to file claims.

Lorain County residents who were overlooked when 20 million in food scrip was mailed to about one million households in the seven county area can request booklets by mailing this form to U.S. District Court. Attorney Robert Gary notes 2 percent were missed and about 3,000 requests have been received. Donated coupons can go to County Cupboard.
