Dead trucker identified in Westlake-A crash
George Schmitt 26 of Hamburg NY was killed in a bit-skip accident on Interstate 90 early Monday. Howard Anderson 51 of Tonawanda NY is in fair condition with a fractured face at Bay View Hospital. Schmitt and Anderson, both from White Star Trucking, assisted a third truck whose gas had run out when Schmitt was struck while siphoning gas. Police seek witnesses and a 1968 or 1969 green Oldsmobile involved. The crash occurred at 3 am on I-99 westbound near Columbia Road.
