President Roosevelt and a party of friends passed through Pittsburgh at noon en route to Canton Ohio for McKinley birthday exercises. The train arrived at 11 45 and departed promptly at noon. Roosevelt, surrounded by supporters, chatted and laughed with Pittsb urgh citizens on Union Station platform.

Terrible accident claims life of Julius Aller at Lorain yard

Julius Aller of 116 Ninth Avenue was fatally injured by a Baltimore and Ohio yard engine at Lorain round house about 12:30 Monday. He had both legs severed above the hips and died at St. Joseph’s Hospital soon after. Coroner French ruled accidental death. Aller, 30, from Dayton, was unemployed and friends had not heard from him. His body rested at Wicken’s morgue pending funeral arrangements, with prevailing belief he was under the influence at the time.
