Sullivan man fined on seven counts of animal cruelty

Allen Rollin, 44, of Sullivan, was sentenced to one year in Lorain County Jail and fined 5,250 after pleading no contest to seven counts of animal cruelty. Five abandoned dogs and two cows were found at his Stewart Road property without water or food. One cocker spaniel died, others are recovering or up for adoption. Rollin's teenage son was not charged. The APL reports ongoing care for the animals at local facilities and a farm in Columbia Station for the cows.

Unscheduled Boeing 757 lands after smoke report

A Boeing 757 with 135 aboard made an emergency landing at Port Columbus after the pilot reported smoke in the cockpit and a fire indicator light. No injuries were reported as passengers were moved to another plane. airline officials disputed the smoke claim.
