Brownfield cleanup moves forward at former St Joseph site
In 2022 the city contracted Verdantas Engineering for an environmental assessment funded by ARPA and an Ohio Brownfield grant. Reports released through 2022 cite disposal concerns such as lead sheeting asbestos debris and pipe insulation in rubble. Groundwater metals triggered a use restriction since 2015 with a May 2022 finding of rapid deterioration of an unused parking garage. Bradley notes long standing center issues and hopes for remediation with state brownfield funds. contact Carissa Woytach at 440 329 7245 or cwoytach chroniclet com.
