NASCAR Unveils Stage Based Race Overhaul
NASCAR introduces a three stage format across all three national series with top 10 at Stage 1 and Stage 2 earning high points, a 40 point win in final stage, and a 26 race regular season feeding a 10 race playoff now not called The Chase. The plan aims to boost racing quality and TV breaks while maintaining race distances and rewards for front running.

Changes to NASCAR Playoff Points and Speedweeks Scoring
The AP reports no bonus for leading laps and equal laps in the first two segments with second stage ending near race midpoint. Three drivers earn playoff points, five per race win, one per segment win, through a 10 race playoff. Playoffs keep three three race rounds, four eliminated per round, finalists in final not eligible for segment wins. Exhibition Speedweeks duels at Daytona next month worth 10 points to the two winners.
