Community Fair Prizes Named For Cake and Grain Exhibits
Prizes awarded for desserts and grains at the community event include Flo ssie Finkle and Hester Taylor for doughnuts, Mrs Royce and Mrs Claud Simonson for muffins and coffee cake, and C C Fin for oats and grain. Door prizes went to Robert Weinsboro and Mrs Leo Koons. Plans were announced for a joint play presentation titled Plain Sister by the Institute and Grange to be staged in January in Slat.

Huntington Farmers Institute Elects New Officers and Prizes
Huntington observers report 603 attendees across five sessions of the Farmers Institute last Wednesday and Thursday. Marion Johnson Crile is elected president with RH Miller VP, Mrs. B. F. Miller secretary treasurer, and Mrs. G. A. Handley as hostess. Prizes awarded to school children include William Gott, William Herald, Robbie Cassell, Baden Nash, Helen and Dorothy Dietrich, with baking and grain prizes to Mrs. C. J. Chapman, Mrs. Francis Coe, and Mrs. Farl Easterday among others.

Whistling Tree Observed by Tourists in Barbados Antilles
Tourists returning from Barbados in the Antilles report a whistling tree with a uniquely shaped leaf. Pods on the tree have split edges and the wind moving through them produces a shrill, eerie whistle, described as a strange natural effect.
