Tragic Dominican deaths hit baseball world Ventura and Marte
Kansas City Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura and former major leaguer Andy Marte died in separate traffic accidents in the Dominican Republic. Ventura’s crash occurred on a highway near Juan Adrian, with speeding cited as a possible cause. Marte died when his Mercedes hit a house between San Francisco de Macoris and Pimentel. President Danilo Medina mourned the losses as the nation notes its dangerous roads and four current or former major leaguers lost to traffic in recent years.
