Ice blocks rupture gas line closing Detroit Road
A large ice chunk slid from a roof and cut a natural gas pipe on Detroit Road in Sheffield causing a three hour closure from Avon to Abbe. Columbia Gas shut the line after 30 minutes while firefighters ventilated the building and evacuated occupants. A separate chimney fire at Cracker Barrel near the scene was minor and quickly controlled.
