Ohio poised to restrict gender-affirming care for adults
Gov. Mike DeWine unveiled proposals that would tighten rules on adult gender-affirming care, potentially limiting access to clinics and forcing patients like Ashton Colby to seek treatment elsewhere amid added mental health strain and possible wait times. The draft rules require expert panels, require mental health counseling for minors, and bar referrals to out of state clinics.

Elyria Board sells Prospect Elementary site to Bob Yost
The Elyria Board of Education sold the former Prospect Elementary School site at 1410 Prospect St to developer Bob Yost for 80 000 at auction. Yost plans a housing development on the 9.43 acre residential plot amid efforts to boost property tax revenue for the district. Rigda, a former superintendent consulting on district demolitions, said the sale will benefit the community once homes are built and taxed. The site sits between Baldwin Avenue and Illinois Circle near the Recreation Center and was previously closed in 2021 and demolished in August. An earlier bid for Elyria West High remains under consideration by the district.
