Gas firms understated reserves reportedly by 37 percent
A Congressional study charges that the natural gas industry understate reserves by more than 37 percent. The comparison of American Gas Association figures with Geological Survey data was presented to the House Commerce subcommittee led by Rep. John Moss. The finding underpins arguments for price deregulation, which could raise a typical household gas bill about 94 dollars by 1980.
