Ohio state representative Michael P. Stinziano proposed legalizing living wills to let doctors and hospitals withhold artificial life support from terminally ill patients who choose to die. He argued recent events show current law is inadequate for sparing families from prolonged death.
The Ohio House approved a bill authorizing a five year real estate tax exemption on home improvements. The exemption covers actual costs up to one third of the homestead value or $10,000, whichever is less. Rep. Francine Panehal led the measure amid opposition over revenue impact.
Kelly Ann Martin, 23, daughter of New York Yankees manager Billy Martin, was sentenced to three years in Barranquilla for attempting to smuggle about a pound of cocaine strapped to her thighs inside stockings. Her lawyer plans an appeal. She was arrested November 16 at Barranquilla’s Soledad airport.
