Lorain County Board of Education held its 1951 organizational meeting and approved a county school office budget of $45,233.20 for the year. New officers elected were W. E. Love as President and C. H. Davis as vice president. Salary increases were approved for five staff members, $25 monthly for 12 month staff and $20 monthly for 10 month staff. Assistant superintendent Miss Emma Gleason was authorized to attend the NEA convention in Detroit February 10-15. The operating budget for 1951 totals $3,197.72 more than last year.

Rice Nicholson of Oberlin, 19, admitted burglary of two dormitories and received a five year minimum at Mansfield Reformatory after pleading guilty. Second offender Harry E Spurrer of Lorain pleaded guilty to auto theft and was sentenced to at least five years. Willie Evans and Joseph Hall of Lorain faced separate charges.

Deputies Break Up South Amherst Entertainment
About 200 men paid five dollars for admission to Magyar Hall in South Amherst Saturday night then deputies halted the event and seized five striptease entertainers and two men for questioning. The performers said a promoter from Elyria pledged twenty five dollars each plus a bonus and that payments had been made to local officials. Deputies reported a lookout, then found the hall closed upon a second visit. The sheriff indicated likely no prosecution due to insufficient evidence.
