A 1950s survey shows mushrooming congestion at Elyria Memorial Hospital. Residents launched a drive Jan 15 to raise 1.75 million for a six story wing and allied upgrades to relieve overcrowded wards, labs, rooms, and a crammed cafeteria.
The Lorain County Industrial Association executive committee unanimously approved the Elyria Memorial Hospital campaign and urged Elyria area members to support it. Coleman S. Christian said the group reviewed the campaign goal of at least 1,750,000 and urged members to consider the total goal relative to their company.
