New Elyria Tax Rate A Record Increases City Levy
Elyria property owners will pay 5.54 mills more per 1 000 dollars of valuation this year as the new tax rate rises to 38.28 mills. The increase follows three last year’s levies for city operation salaries and school operation, with total voted levies at 7.75 mills. County Auditor Frank Ayres’s dept notes bond retirement cuts, state and county reductions, and a ~6 million rise in Elyria’s valuation helped limit the rise. The rate combines state, county, city and school levies inside and outside the 10-mill limit, with 9.04 mills for city purposes and 26.34 mills for school expenses, plus county and state shares.
