Den of Thieves makes a taut LA heist thriller
Christian Gudegast directs a two hour and twenty minute cops and robbers film set in Los Angeles. Gerard Butler and Pablo Schreiber forge tense rival energies as detective Big Nick and felon Merrimen with a plot that mirrors classic crime noir while leaning on familiar inspirations. The film builds suspense through controlled reveals and brisk pacing despite geographic overexplanation.

Den of Thieves review captures heist tale and inbuilt flaws
The film is a twisty action romp led by O Shea Jackson Jr but hampered by misogynistic depictions and unclear motives. Gudegast and Scheuring deliver stylish detail and humor while neglecting deeper why questions and character depth beyond male bravado.
